DayZ Standalone receives biggest update yet with v0.58

DayZ Standalone and developer Bohemia Interactive are often accused of making slow progress towards completion, and while that remains true for pure gameplay performance, the game’s core mechanics have received a healthy amount of work these last few months. As evidence by version 0.58, the latest version of the game that hit the game’s stable branch today.

0.58 brings significant changes to the game’s central loot economy, a system that governs the loot on game servers – location, density and rarity. This effectively ensures loot respawns at a consistent rate to keep players accessible to items without jumping to a new server. This also drives players off of the coast of Chernarus and deeper inland.

New items, mechanics and changes include – cart tents, truck batteries, player dancing, barrels (as container), cannabis flowers (lol), updates to Berenzino, animal AI improvements, optional new UI (-newui in Steam launch settings), useable home stoves and fireplaces, and a whole lot more. Full a full list, check the latest changelog.

Bohemia Interactive is set to announce new content for the game’s next 0.59 update at PAX Prime.
