Bohemia Interactive have today released a new developer blog detailing the upcoming changes to both Stable build and Experimental for DayZ Standalone. Most recently, Stable has been updated to 0.44.123800 (changelog here). This build introduced 1:1 mouse movement (removing acceleration), bows, crossbows, new clothing, and more. The latest Experimental build may be a little buggy as the team is currently testing item respawning.
The blog goes on to provide some insight into current optimization techniques, network improvements, and 64 bit servers that will provide more memory for when systems like in-game physics become more utilized.
In a tweet by Bohemia CEO Marek Spanel, it has been suggested that DayZ Standalone may eventually require a 64b bit operating systems in order to be played. Marek states that less than 5% of DayZ‘s users are playing the game with a 32 bit OS, and that changes will be made for support of DirectX 10 and above.
On the art side of the game, new clothing will be implemented soon, for example a riot police uniform set – cops and bandits, anyone? A new town called Novodmitrovsk will be roughly the size of Electro and Cherno and be based in the northern part of the game’s map. It will include a unique building type that will serve as a landmark. It also seems like new signature objects may make their way into existing locations so that they will begin to stand out from each other.
Oh, and the AK is still not done but they’re saying that it won’t be a long wait. Take a look at the whole blog to get an idea of what’s in store for DayZ. One of the things will be pigs. Delicious pigs.
