Well despite being very rough around the edges the DayZ standalone continues to be a massive success. Now boasting 800,000+ sales in under a month since it was first released on Steam early access. The game will surely reach the 1 million in sales mark before the end of January too. Heck DayZ managed to stay at the top of the Steam sales charts all throughout the recent Holiday sale which is quite a feat in and of itself.
Having put in a decent amount of time into the standalone myself, things are shaping up quite nicely. There’s still a lot of issues, like for example zombies are currently barely respawning at all. Despite gripes like that it’s still a huge improvement over the mod version of the game.
