People have been clamoring for a console incarnation of DayZ for quite some time now. Well, it looks like it’s going to be happening, as the game’s creator Dean “Rocket” Hall said they will be inputting the standalone on the Playstation 4. He specifically expressed interest in putting the game on Sony’s next generation device for several reasons, such as the indie friendly attitude from Sony, being able to self publish, and Sony will not be charging for patches and support.
Hall emphasized the importance of self publishing:
“As far as I’m aware, Microsoft is, Sony’s not. And Sony allows you to self-publish. But who knows? Maybe Microsoft will change. From our perspective, we need self-publishing because DayZ would be a great digital download title.”
Microsoft has recieved an overwhelming amount of bad PR with regards to the new policies on the Xbox One, and it looks like Hall, for the time being, isn’t interested in putting the game on such a restrictive platform. Things may change in time though, so who knows?
So, what platform will you be playing the game on? Sticking with PC, or jumping ship for the PS4? Let us know in the comments below!
