Daymare: 1998 has been out for a couple of months now, and fortunately a bit more value via a surprise update has arrived, adding a new game mode.
H.A.D.E.S. Dead End is a speedrunning/time trial mode of sorts. Tasked with retrieving or destroying three objectives, players will assume the role of Liev, one of the game’s major playable characters, in a race against time and the undead in hopes of completing the mission as quickly as possible. It appears that killing enemies in quick succession will grant a time deduction, suggesting that the Dead End will be a bit more action-oriented than the main game.
This new game mode is completely free. If you haven’t purchased the game yet, or would just like to see it in action, you can check out a very slow playthrough here. I haven’t tried out the game mode itself, but I’m not sure if this mode would really have the same replay value as say…something like The Mercenaries from the Resident Evil series. Regardless, Daymare: 1998 definitely could benefit greatly from a couple of bonus modes like this to give fans something to go back to every once in a while.
