A bad habit the gaming industry has developed is announcing DLC for an upcoming game long before it’s release. Which usually means a portion of the release content is just locked behind a paywall. Thankfully it looks as though Dark Souls 2 wont be apart of this unfortunate practice. In an interview with Edge magazine, From Software’s Takeshi Miyazoe had this to say on Dark Souls 2 and DLC:
“For Dark Souls II, we don’t even expect any additional downloadable content because we want to deliver a full game, the full experience, to fans who purchase the package from day one. We did do additional content for Dark Souls, but generally downloadable content for Dark Souls II is not really being considered. Buy the package and you’ll get the full experience, and you’ll have as much fun as anybody else. Spending a couple dollars on certain items does not help the experience. So no free-to-play yet!”
Pretty awesome to hear that From Software isn’t attempting to nickel and dime their fanbase. Now can the rest of the industry follow suit please?
