But don’t worry, it still has that classic over-the-shoulder survival horror feel fans loved in Silent Hill 2. This time, though, Bloober is dialing up the action, with clear influences from games like Dead Space woven into the gameplay DNA.
You’ll play as the Traveler, a mysterious protagonist navigating the ruins of a world devastated by the “Change”, an apocalyptic event that turned humans into grotesque monsters known as Orphans.
Using time travel as a central mechanic, the Traveler returns to 1980s Poland to save those who never survived, uncovering lost memories and unraveling a storyline that spans across timelines and trauma alike.
While details remain scarce, early gameplay teases suggest that Cronos will demand strategic combat, tight inventory management, and an unrelenting sense of dread as you creep through brutalist ruins and face enemies that once were human. It’s a fresh twist on familiar mechanics, and if Bloober nails the execution, Cronos could be a game-changer.
No official release date has been announced yet, but Bloober has confirmed a 2025 launch window. With the new trailer just days away, we may be inching closer to a full reveal — and possibly the next great horror franchise in the making.
For those who once doubted Bloober’s ability to handle horror heavyweights, Cronos: The New Dawn feels like a challenge to the rest of the genre.
