IGN has just revealed a teaser trailer for Shadow of the Eternals, a game developed by the original creators of Eternal Darkness. Are you freaking out yet?
Not only does the game bare a striking resemblance to Eternal Darkness, but it even has the word “Eternal” in the title! That’s gotta be a clue, right? Right now, details are scarce. The Shadow of the Eternals website lists a crowdfunding campaign that’s set to go live in two days. The game’s Facebook and Twitter pages don’t reveal much about the game. So, all we know is that it might be related to Eternal Darkness, and that it will require crowdfunding.
Update: IGN has published some details of the game from publisher Precursor. Shadow of the Eternals is currently set as a Wii U and PC episodic series that will require $1.5 million dollars in crowdfunding to get rolling. If crowdfunding is surpassed, more episodes, characters, and release platforms can be produced. The story synopsis is as follows:
When Detective Paul Becker is called to one of the bloodiest gang massacres in Louisiana state history, only two survivors remain from a brutal conflict between two rival cults. As Becker begins his interrogations of the suspects, their combined recollections will uncover the truth about the ‘Eternals’.
Featuring an ensemble cast of heroes and villains, Shadow of the Eternals will span over 2500 years of history throughout Egypt, England, Hungary, and the United States. Players will question the perception of reality as they try to balance the mechanics of combat, magick, and sanity events to progress through the adventure.
Shadow of the Eternals will take players on a memorable journey throughout time; weaving historical fact with disturbing fiction to create an experience unlike any other.
