We absolutely loved SOMA, awarding it a 9.5 out of 10, but if the scares are too much for you The Dreamer’s Workshop have created a mod which pacifies the grotesque horrors in Frictional’s excellent deep-sea diving sci-fi horror. The game cleverly uses a screen distortion mechanic which obscures your view of your pursuer who can kill you very quickly, and the handful of enemies in the game are as designed as they are terrifying, apparently. While the game deliberately only lets you see glimpses of its shambling horrors and teaches you that running and screaming is the best technique, the mod aptly named “Wuss Mode: Monsters Won’t Attack”, stops them from attacking you (of course) which allows you to get a good look at some the nightmarish creations living on PATHOS-II.
