The weather is hot outside, and what better way to cool off by getting elbow deep in Frozen State, a game that starting today is available through Steam Early Access.
Frozen State casts you as a survivor in the harsh cold temperatures of a dying Siberian city, Duga 40. Think less economical strife and more literal dying as the city has been infested by an extraterrestrial parasite that has wiped out the city’s residents and has turned them into a vicious alien hybrid. Despite the grotesque creatures that are the clear enemy, you also have to face off against the remaining surviving citizens just trying to stay alive.
The finalized game will allow you to play as three separate characters with separate play styles, but for right now, just one character has been implemented. The alpha features three different types of enemies, 12 suburban locations, dynamic weather, randomly generated building interiors, stealth elements, simple crafting and cooking and a requirement that basic needs are met, such as sleep, hunger and thirst.
The alpha is available for $10 and will be available later today for PC and Mac through Steam.
