It feels really strange to have such polar opposite interpretations of the franchise coming out so close together, but here we are.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (the sixth and apparently final film in the now decade-long film franchise) is drawing ever closer, releasing only a few days after Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, and the promotional gears are a grindin’. Almost all of my YouTube visits have been greating me with trailers before my videos of choice, and now we have a neat 360 degree video to check out as well. It’s actually kind of interesting, considering the video is actually telling a little first-person story, complete with gun hand in the corner. It doesn’t end up feeling anything like the quiet, dreary atmosphere of RE7 of course, (coming closer to the first person segment from the 2005 DOOM movie), but it does actually feel a little creepy. Zombies hanging from hooks on the ceiling flail at us, and we get an up-close look at the film’s version of Resident Evil 6‘s Bloodshot enemy (promoted from simply being a more powerful enemy to apparently the film’s main monster antagonist).
We’ll be letting you know our thoughts on The Final Chapter as soon as we see it, which won’t be too much longer now. The film hits theaters January 27th.
