The 3DS is home to quite a library of amazing games. They range from the usual first-party Nintendo hits, to exclusive third party ones. One such game that falls in the latter camp is Resident Evil Revelations, a portable entry in the beloved series that rivals some of its console siblings. Well, that game’s getting the HD treatment, set to hit home consoles and PC on May 21st.
Now we go from one beloved series to another.
It’s been quite a while since Order of Ecclesia on the Nintendo DS, but the Castlevania franchise will finally spawn a new handheld-exclusive entry on March 5th with the release of Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate. But guess what? It seems the trend of bringing over initially exclusive handheld games to home consoles might be applying to Konami’s historic vampire-hunting franchise as well.
Speaking with CVG in London, Konami’s very own Dave Cox revealed that the publisher would “absolutely consider” an HD version of the upcoming 3DS exclusive for current home consoles. And it wouldn’t take too much time porting it over, since HD assets for the game already exist and are “sitting in a computer somewhere” at MercurySteam. That’s because the Spain-based developer actually built the game, the second part of their Castlevania trilogy, as an HD title, going on to shrink it into the 3DS.
I know I’ll definitely be purchasing a potential HD version of the game. My anticipation level for Mirror of Fate is through the roof right now and the thought of playing an HD side-scrolling ‘vania on a home console is just way too exciting. Stay tuned for more Castlevania coverage!
