Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate gets new trailer, game length confirmed

A new trailer has just been released today for the second part of MercurySteam’s epic Castlevania trilogy, Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate. This special Halloween trailer makes me wish the 3DS exclusive was coming out this year, as was originally planned. The wait has been made even harder…

The trailer has a lot of new footage from the game, focusing on its combat, platforming and exploration aspects. It also confirms the game’s estimated length, clocking in at around 20 hours. We all know how this works, publishers state these hours and it turns out to be a different story once we beat the game for ourselves. However, taking the original Lords of Shadow’s length into consideration, and this game’s focus on 4 different characters, I definitely believe this experience will be very close to 20 hours. Gotta love true single player experiences!

We also get to see Trevor Belmont going up against Dracula in this new trailer. Things aren’t looking good for Trev’, and I’m still sticking to my theory about him being defeated in his first encounter against Dracula and becoming MercurySteam’s version of Alucard. Oh, and I absolutely went nuts when Dracula yelled out “have at you!” at the beloved Belmont. Aside from this, we also get to see Simon and Alucard in action as well, along with new footage showing off Gabriel’s part of the game. And this is where I’m a bit confused.

Gabriel’s short segment in the trailer plays after Trevor says that his father (Gabriel) came to the castle many years ago to destroy the evil that resided there. But what we see is definitely not from the original Lords of Shadow (trust me, I’ve put in over 200 hours into the game up to this point!). So, where exactly does Gabriel’s segment here fit in in this universe? I’ll be devoting an article to that very topic in the weeks to come, so stay tuned! And, of course, check out the new trailer below!
