Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is one of my favorite games of all time. It’s a game I find myself replaying many times. It took the Castlevania series and fused it with light RPG mechanics and, most importantly, the structure of Nintendo’s beloved Metroid series. Symphony of the Night , despite not seeing substantial commercial success, went on to become one of the most treasured jewels in gaming, and continues to be to this day.
The game also served as the framework for a series of amazing Game Boy Advance and DS titles. One of those games was Aria of Sorrow, originally released for the GBA. It’s the game that introduced Soma Cruz to fans and that also brought Castlevania to a future time period, while still keeping the gothic design that made the series so loved in the first place. And now it looks like the game is making its way to Wii U.
Aria of Sorrow has just been rated for release on the Wii U’s virtual console, which will start offering GBA games starting in April. Its launch line-up includes titles such as Metroid Fusion, Advance Wars and the original Mario and Luigi RPG. With Aria of Sorrow coming to the platform, this opens the door for the rest of the series’ GBA titles to re-released in the future.
