Capcom’s lowblow to PS3 Dead Rising fans

Dead Rising originally debuted on the XBox360, then a port followed for the Nintendo Wii. Ps3 owners never got to experience photo-journalist Frank West’s scenario, but they will be able to enjoy moto-cross champion Chuck’s adventure through Dead Rising 2, a multiplatform release. It seems Capcom is still primarily catering to the 360 crowd, which kinda of makes sense since 360 owners actually took a chance with this new IP and now it’s profitable and widely known. How exactly is Capcom, somewhat, flipping PS3 owners the bird? By offering not only Case Zero exclusively for XBLA but the upcoming epilogue Case West as well. How do you all feel about this? Here’s tidbits from eurogamer’s article:

“I think Inafune [Keiji, head of global R&D] said that we’re sorry that it seems like you’re getting a little bit less of the Dead Rising 2 universe, but you’ll still be able to enjoy the full game” – Co-Producer, Shinsaku Ohara

“You’ll just miss a little bit of extra. We haven’t completely alienated PS3 gamers because Dead Rising 2 is a standalone boxed product.”

“The game was completely designed to be a self-contained and enjoyable experience, beginning to end, regardless of the prologue and the epilogue.”- Blue Castle Game’s Rob Barrett

“Dead Rising was our very first Xbox 360 title and Microsoft supported the title all the way,” Ohara said.

“At the beginning we didn’t know that this new IP would be a success, but the fans on the console really assisted in making it into one. So it’s like a present, something that we gave back to the original Dead Rising fans.”
