After the debut of Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2 on the Nintendo Switch, Capcom revealed that Devil May Cry 3 would follow soon after. Although the first two ports were basically direct adaptations of the originals (without any extras), it looks like the Switch version of DMC3 will get a different treatment in the form of a “Special Edition.”
Through the official Devil May Cry account on Twitter, Capcom producer Matt Walker gave a small update on the development of the Switch version of the classic hack ‘n’ slash title. What’s notable about the video is that Walker mentions that the team was motivated to add “something extra” to the game that will please the fans. At the moment we have no clue as to what he might be hinting at. Perhaps this new version will include additional gameplay or take advantage of the Joy-Con or other features of the Switch? Some fans have speculated that Dante may show up as the next fighter on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in a new DLC pack, or even get his own Amiibo.
All this is just speculation, however. If you want to know what Walker’s referring to, then you’ll have to wait just a little longer. We should know more come January 16th, 30th and February 13th. We recommend keeping a close eye on these key dates if you want to be among the first to find out what Capcom’s surprise is all about.
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition is set to release on the Nintendo Switch on February 20, 2020.
