In case you already cancelled your Dead Rising 3 pre-order or shouted at the top of your lugs on the nearest mountain-side, because sub-60FPS gaming is that terrible to you, today’s news might just make you reconsider your choices. Steam forum user Wbacon, Capcom Digital Platforms director, has been working tirelessly to prove that while Dead Rising 3 on PC is optimized for 30FPS, people shouldn’t be worried as the game should “run fine” when uncapped.
“Allow me to set the record straight — while Dead Rising 3 is optimized to run at 30 frames per second for gameplay reasons, you can expect it to still run fine uncapped under most conditions provided you have a capable enough hardware. We can’t guarantee that there won’t be issues, and obviously depending on your rig you may see different results. Rest assured the beefier your gaming machine, the smoother your zombie killing experience will be,” he wrote.
Wbacon has provided two gameplay videos of Dead Rising 3 running in its uncapped state to give people an example of how the game should run perfectly fine granted they have the adequate hardware. Wbacon’s rig is outfitted with a i7-4770K CPU and a GTX 780 Ti NVIDIA GPU, which is what he used to capture footage of the game. Both gameplay videos can be found here and here, with the latter video showing how the game’s FPS may dip depending on the game scenario.
As you can see above in the post image, Dead Rising 3 will also allow players to tweak the graphics a fair amount in the game’s settings.
I’m very much excited for this release, and I’m glad that someone at Capcom is easing concerns over the game’s performance. Dead Rising 3 on PC releases on September 5th on Steam.
