In a shocking move by Capcom, the long time Gamecube exclusive Resident Evil 4 is finally being ported to another platform! For close to a decade now, Capcom stayed true to their promise that Resident Evil 4 would remain a Gamecube exclusive, but no longer! This morning Capcom announced Resident Evil 4: Ultimate HD Edition for your fancy gaming PC.
Just in case you couldn’t tell, I was being sarcastic in the above sentences. Well, aside from the RE4 HD PC port, that part is actually happening.
Resident Evil 4: Ultimate HD Edition for PC is set to finally give PC gamers what they’ve always wanted: A port of RE4 that isn’t complete trash. Ultimate HD will feature improvements like 60 frames per second, Steam Leaderboards, Steam achievements, Steam trading cards, Steam Cloud, and a visual upgrade. Capcom claims they’ve done a complete visual overhaul on the game, and that it’s the highest graphical quality version of the game ever. Though the graphical fidelity looks about on par with Resident Evil 4 HD on consoles.
You can already pre-order Resident Evil 4: Ultimate HD Edition on Steam for $19.99, but wait–there’s more! You even get a digital soundtrack and a digital art book if you pre-order.
Remember when Shinji Mikami said he’d commit seppuku(disembowelment) if Resident Evil 4 was ever ported off the Gamecube? Ah, those were the days…
