Cannibal Mutants Strike Again In Sons Of The Forest

Sons of the Forest

As usual, the annual Game Awards hosts plenty of new game announcements, and one that may have flown under the radar for many was the Sons of the Forest.

Sons of the Forest is a sequel to developer Endnight’s original The Forest, which could easily be mistaken for a video game adaptation of Gary Paulsen’s Hatchet if it wasn’t for the gang of cannibal mutants. The new trailer showcases some pretty weird and creepy imagery, and what glimpses we get of gameplay demonstrate a huge jump in graphical quality as well as overall production value, making the title look less like an indie survival crafting game and more of a production with some money behind it. The Forest was pretty well received, so hopefully this means Endnight will be able to build upon the property well.

On Steam, The Forest is currently on sale until tomorrow afternoon and the game seems to have a fairly active player base, so check the deal out if you’re so inclined. There is no word on release platforms, although the original game released on Steam and came to PlayStation later that year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Sons of the Forest followed in its footsteps.
