Bloober Team, the Polish studio behind the recent Silent Hill 2 remake, is leaving its days of mediocre games behind. The success of this remake, which many feared might flop due to the studio’s mixed track record, has proven to be a turning point. Not only did the game exceed expectations, but it also became a major milestone for Bloober Team.
In an interview with GameSpot, Jacek Zieba, co-director of the Silent Hill 2 remake, reflected on the journey the team has gone through. “We made some shitty games before,” Zieba admitted, acknowledging Bloober’s rocky past. He continued, “We want to find our niche, and we think we found our niche” He emphasized that the team has grown creatively and is now focused on raising the quality of their games. They are evolving, especially after the success of Layers of Fear in 2016, and are excited to keep building on this momentum.
The success of the Silent Hill 2 remake is undeniable. With over a million copies sold, the game has made a big impact, considering that the entire Silent Hill franchise had sold around 9 million copies across all its previous titles since its 1999 debut. Bloober Team feels more confident about working with Konami’s games now, and they are already interested in remaking more titles from the Silent Hill series.
Bloober Team’s next big project is a new game called Cronos: The New Dawn. This new title will be another chance for the studio to show how much they’ve grown over the years. After learning from their earlier mistakes, they hope to leave those rough patches behind for good.
