Bioshock 4 Rumored to Have Female Protagonist and Be Set in Antarctica

According to Twitter user @oopsleaks, a new game in the Bioshock series entitled Bioshock: Isolation is rumored to be in development. He recently posted a series of tweets compiling all the news and information he’s received so far about the game.

Oops Leaks begins his thread saying that he gets “a lot of information from new people, I think it’s mostly bullshit as I can’t confirm anything since I’m no longer in touch with my original source.”

Apparently, the game’s logo and internal presentation slides come from a 2020 Slack messenger data breach and show off the early stages of concept and pre-production of the game. Oops says his source has confirmed these images are legit.

You can read his full thread below.

Oops goes on to say that according to his info:

The game should have been announced at the beginning of this year. I also did not rule out the possibility of the game’s appearance at TGA’21, based on Geoff’s words, regarding his dream of announcing a new Bioshock game at TGA.

The official development announcement of the game was postponed due to staff reductions inside the studio, which lost about 40 employees in just two months, including leads.

We may see an announcement as early as at the next PlayStation showcase or TGA 2022, though Oops says that the game will not be a PS5 exclusive. He says it’s still conceptually the same Bioshock and doesn’t try to massively reinvent the basics of previous games.

I have received confirmation that the game will be based in Antarctica. An open world with a main story that has multiple endings. Allegedly, the theme of aggregate states of water plays a huge role in the plot and lore which will be more extensively revealed through side quests.

The narrative is largely built around refugees. The city has become a haven for people who have left Rapture. There are really two cities, the upper Borealis, and the lower one — Aurora, named after the cruiser, that played an iconic role in the Communist Revolution in the Russian Empire, hiding under the layers of ice. In the course of the story, you enter the prosperous city of Borealis. Your goal is to unite two cities.

@oopsleaks stresses to take all these rumors with “an enormous grain of salt.”

According to Oops Leaks, the release window for the new Bioshock won’t be announced until the developers are sure about the exact date in order to avoid any delays and can polish all the nuances. For more details, you can read the entire thread here.

We’ll keep you up to date on any new announcements, including trailers and gameplay reveals, as soon as they happen.
