Bethesda has announced a special collector’s edition of Wolfenstein: The New Order. As most special collector’s editions go, this one is pretty standard fare.
Only 5000 copies of the Panzerhund edition will be made available at $100 per, and only available through the Bethesda Store. For $100, you get an 8-inch fully articulated, hand-painted Panzerhund statue and base, a folder containing maps, case files, letters and blueprints, a set of 14 postcards from Wolfenstein’s version of the 1960’s, three embroidered patches, dog tags and a steelbook case for the game.
You noticed something is missing here, right?

Wolfenstein: The New Order Panzerhund Edition doesn’t include a copy of the game. And no, that’s not a misprint. Bethesda clarified on its store page that this edition will not include a copy of the game itself.
The product listing does not include a copy of the game. Keep your pre-order at your favourite retailer and we’ll send you these goodies separately – this way we can ship these boxes worldwide and you’re not stuck waiting for your game to come along with an oversized, expensively shipped box.
OK…
While that’s awfully considerate to think of the shipping costs, wouldn’t it be even more considerate to include a copy of the game in the special edition? Sometimes I’m a sucker for stuff like this, but if I’ve already paid my $60+ for a game, I don’t exactly want to spend another $100, plus shipping and handling for the other cool stuff, y’know?
