The Nintendo Switch is primed to allow players to kill demons and nazi (sorta the same thing, though) while on the go with newly announced ports of DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. On the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed that both games — one already released and the other coming soon — will hit the Switch along with Bethesda’s Skyrim. DOOM is set for a holiday release while Wolfenstein 2 arrives sometime in 2018. If you look closely at the announcement, you’ll notice the footage of DOOM includes no actual violence – heh.
Exact specifics regarding the ports haven’t been shared yet, like resolution and FPS, but based on how praised DOOM’s PC optimization is, I don’t expect the game to lose too much of its visual fidelity when going portable. The Nintendo Switch is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum for console power, so hopefully the ports justify themselves.
Check out our DOOM review and Wolfenstein 2 hands-on preview while you wait for both to hit the Switch.
