Back to Dinosaur Island moves forward onto Steam

2015-11-19

Have four minutes to spare and want to try another free VR demo for your Oculus Rift? Then download Back to Dinosaur Island for free on Steam today. This very short test by Crytek was made for GDC and E3 earlier this year to demonstrate what CRYENGINE can do for VR. It’s also important to note that it shares an aesthetic similar to the recently revealed Robinson: The Journey, so if you want an idea of what that game could look like (while you stand still), it might be worth a peek.

While anyone can launch the prototype, if you don’t have a VR device you won’t be able to look around and the FOV angle will be pretty fish-eyed. So any immersion chills you get will have to be achieved vicariously through watching other people experience it. The specs for running it are also fairly high as you’ll require 16 GBs of ram, an i7 processor, and either a GTX 980/R9 290 or better. This is the first known Back to Dinosaur Island demo, it’s unknown when the second one come to Steam, let alone will.

P.S. That dragonfly is a jerk.
