Update: The show is live! Additionally, Humble Bundle has put up a charity bundle that contains some of the games that will be played throughout the event. There are no straight-up horror games in it, but it does include the original Shadow Warrior, which we covered in the past.
Original Post: No matter how good you are at games, few of us will ever be as skilled as the people in the speedrunning community. These men and women don’t just play to win, they also want to finish their games in as little time as humanly possible, utilizing shortcuts, glitches and a variety of other tricks to overcome and skip the various challenges.
It’s amazing to see these gamers play and today will mark the start of a charity event where you can do just that. “Awesome Games Done Quick” starts at 12PM EST and will end on the 11th of January. While watching the action take place, the audience can donate money that will benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
The event will kick off with Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, but the Castlevania franchise, Silent Hill, and Splatterhouse games will be played as well, so horror fans like us have something to look forward to. The event will be streamed on both the official website and the organization’s Twitch channel.
