Silent Hill f is the new chapter of Konami’s horror series. We still don’t know when it will be released, but classification bodies around the world are gradually reviewing the video game. The Australian classification board has done so, or rather, it hasn’t.
Australia has denied the classification for Silent Hill f, which probably means the game might not be released in that region.
If you’re not familiar with how the Australian classification system works, let us explain. It is similar to PEGI in Europe, CERO in Japan, or the ESRB in North America. The difference is that Australia is much more restrictive and often doesn’t allow the release of video games it deems inappropriate.
There is no official explanation yet, but one element that may have led to the denied classification is violence against minors. The protagonist of the game is a young girl, and it seems clear from the trailer that she will face physical and mental abuse.
Additionally, it’s possible that Silent Hill f involves some representation of drug use, which often leads to Australian censorship of video games.
The official description of the game mentions:
This game contains depictions of gender discrimination, child abuse, bullying, drug-induced hallucinations, torture, and graphic violence.
Players can still import the game from other countries or use an account with a different region, but this isn’t something that’s easy for everyone.
