AMY’s recent pricing issue may have confused a lot of people, but it appears that the developers have come to an agreement with the fanbase after polling a price change with them on Facebook.
Due to an issue with exchange rates and Microsoft points, AMY was going to sell for $13 in the United States on PSN. The developer did this to match the strange pricing change that occurs because of Microsoft points’ value in European regions.
Although AMY appears to be a hugely ambitious indie title that will probably deserve all the financial support it can get, the developers took a hit and lowered the price to $10 on PS3 for North America. Because of this price change, the game will arrive one week late on Sony’s platform. The delay comes from Sony who will need a week’s time to process the price change. AMY releases on Xbox Live this Wednesday for $10 (800MSP).
Despite the developers honesty and care for their fans, some people were quick to be complete and utter dicks about the changes. Some saw fit to announce the cancellation of their plans to purchase AMY when it becomes available to them.
So, let’s get this straight: an indie developer who is willing to be upfront with fans and lower the price of their game to please people are getting shit from jerks on the internet because of a week long delay. They’re also selling AMY, a full 10 hour game that looks great, for below full retail price for fan convenience. Honestly, how is this bad?
In an industry where many major game companies treat their loyal fans like shit covered sheep and get away with it, how can the honesty of an indie developer willing to sell their hard work for a low price possibly be perceived negatively? Because the game won’t be in some over-entitled asshat’s console when they demand it?
Here’s some advice for any people who act like that toward genuinely good consumer appreciation: call your parents who clearly spoiled you throughout your life and ask them to wipe your diamond encrusted asshole. Then, go buy some map packs for $15 instead of what might possibly be an amazing game for even less money. I just don’t know what’s wrong with some people. Anyway, there’s your news. Even if I end up not entirely enjoying the game, I will still have major respect for the games’ developers.
