Amnesia: The Bunker Release Date Pushed Back Again

Amnesia: The Bunker

Amnesia: The Bunker, the highly anticipated new entry in Frictional Games’ Amnesia series, has received a small delay, being moved from its former release date of May 16 to May 23. Though short, the developer claims the extra delay will give the team a chance to give the game some additional polish, ensuring The Bunker is in the best shape it can be ahead of launch.

A press release put out by Frictional, as reported by DSO Gaming, says that “the revised release date allows players to fully immerse themselves in the Amnesia universe without being overwhelmed by competing game releases.” The news was also revealed on the developer’s Twitter page.

The game, the first in the series to arm players, promises to provide both a familiar Amnesia experience while also bringing a range of new ideas to the table, such as a semi-open world. Players will inhabit the role of Henri Clément, a soldier in WWI who finds himself trapped in the eponymous bunker.

The description claims you’ll be stalked by an “ever-present threat reacting to your every move and sound,” which sounds especially horrible in an environment as dark and cramped as the claustrophobic labyrinths the series is known for. Amnesia: The Bunker is set to release for Steam, Epic Games, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S when it launches on May 23. The game is also coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one.
