Frictional Games’ Amnesia Collection arrives on Xbox One on September 28, bringing along with it a new way to experience one of the horror genre’s biggest games.
Eight years later, Amnesia: The Dark Descent is set to receive a new Hard Mode, making the game more challenging and terrifying. Unlike SOMA‘s Safe Mode which released some months ago that removed enemy attacks, Frictional’s Hard Mode for the first Amnesia ups the ante by making the following hardcore changes:
- Manual saves only, and saving costs four tinderboxes.
- Oil and tinderboxes are reduced throughout.
- Monsters are faster, deadlier, more alert, and stay longer.
- No danger music to signal when monsters are near.
- Zero sanity/health = Permadeath.
Amnesia Collection includes The Dark Descent, the Justine expansion, and The Chinese Room’s sequel, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Those who pre-order it before launch get a 10% off discount off of the $29.99 price. Hard Mode is coming to the PC version of Amnesia: The Dark Descent this week as well. And according to Frictional, the mode is currently being ported to the PS4 version of the game as well.
