Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare coming to PS3

Don’t you just love it when unannounced titles get leaked via ESRB listings? It has happened again.

The classic survival horror property Alone in the Dark is set to make a return to the PS3 by way of a re-release of the PS1/PS2/Dreamcast title The New Nightmare (originally released in 2001, also known as Alone in the Dark 4).  That game put players in the role of Edward Carnby (as well as a secondary character, Aline Cedrac) as he investigated the death of his friend, Charles Fiske. What was notable with this title, though, was the flashlight mechanics and how it weaved itself into the gameplay. Yeah, Alan Wake didn’t do that first.

So, back on topic. According to the ESRB listing, The New Nightmare is set to be released on the Playstation 3. What’s interesting is that it isn’t listed as a PSN release, which many would’ve thought this as being due to its release on the PS2 and it not being a completely new game, instead, it’s listed as an actual PS3 release. So perhaps E3 will bring forth some news on this.
