Limited Run Games, a publisher of premium physical editions of games, is releasing collector’s editions of Alien: Isolation. Digital-only may be the most popular way to purchase these days, but special or collectible editions are great for those of us who want a physical product, plus bonus goodies! Limited Run is releasing these versions of the game for Nintendo Switch, and has three options available.
First, there’s Alien: Isolation – The Collection. Inspired by Ridley Scott’s iconic 1979 sci-fi/horror film Alien, this one comes with all seven DLCs, including Ripley’s last mission on the Nostromo as re-created in “Last Survivor.”
Second, is the Collection Classic Edition, which includes all the DLCs on a physical copy for the Switch, as well as bonuses, like an additional Steelbook. Those of us who still remember VHS will appreciate the inclusion of a VHS-style box in this edition. (I personally saw the film for the first time as a VHS rental!)
The third and final option available for pre-order is the Collection Collector’s Edition. As with the others, it comes with the game and all DLC. On top of that is the Steelbook, VHS-style box, art cards, patches, and even a replica of the Sevastopol Station. However, it should be noted that these are for a limited time only. The website says that each of these special Switch editions will be around until July 9th, 2023.
I’m still a fan of physical releases, personally. It’s nice to have an actual game to put on your shelf. Limited Run Games have collaborated with Konami and LucasArts, among others, in the past to produce award-winning special editions.
