Alien: Isolation is one of the most acclaimed horror games of the 2010s. Isolation was the rare licensed game which caught the same spark that made the franchise it was based on so powerful. It was able to smartly expand the world of the movies, changed audiences’ perspective on the titular creature through the paradigm of interactivity and overall was just damn scary.
In the decade since Isolation was unleashed upon the gaming public, it has remained unparalleled. However, that might be about to change.
For the game’s tenth anniversary, Sega and Creative Assembly have announced that Alien: Isolation is returning. Posted on the official Isolation X (formerly Twitter) page this morning, a letter penned by returning game director Al Hope confirmed a sequel was in ‘early development’. Hope spoke of his pride in the game and joy over its reception and lasting legacy, before addressing the calls for a sequel; “[…]we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.” Details on the sequel are still vague, with the team stating that they “[…]look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”
