Citing its ‘mature feel’ and its unique mix of Hitchcockian suspense and Twin Peaks homeage, Time Magazine voted Alan Wake as the game of the year. We’re willing to bed that author Evan Narcisse hasn’t played a whole lot of mature games this year.
Alas, we at RoH will be some of the first to admit that Alan Wake really is a diamond in the rough. It might have slipped under the radar for some gamers, and others have legit reason for not picking it up (no multiplayer, little replay value to name a few things). We still maintain that Alan Wake is is at least worth a rent. We’re also hoping that word of Alan Wake 2 comes down the pipeline pretty soon. Or maybe a PC release?
Everyone has their own personal GOTY. Something that stood out amongst all others that even now you want to go back and play again and again. It’s hard to pick a GOTY after so many damned fine releases this year. I think I’m going to regret thinking about it.
