Alan Wake was originally slated to be a PC & 360 game, but thanks to a publishing decision from Microsoft, was made into an Xbox 360 exclusive for the last year and a half. Many PC gamers felt abandoned and said they would support the game if it came to PC. Remedy says they would be interested in porting it to the PC if they ever got the greenlight from Microsoft to do it. Recently in an interview with Finnish website, Ylex, Remedy said they hoped to bring Alan Wake to PC, though nothing was set in stone yet, but hoped to bring PC gamers some bright news in the near future.
Well PC gamers, it seems it’s time to prove there’s an audience for Alan Wake on the PC.
Alan Wake popped up this morning on the Steam registry, which while not confirming anything to be published quite yet, definitely means Remedy is at the very least toying with the idea.
Now this doesn’t mean Alan Wake is set in stone to be released on Steam, but it does give PC gamers a reason to rejoice as it seems Remedy is seriously looking into it. This wouldn’t be the first time a game coming to Steam was revealed early by Steam registries either. We here at RoH do hope Alan Wake comes out for Steam as it would be wonderful exposure for the IP for many gamers, as well as the mechanics of the game could work wonderfully with a mouse and keyboard. However, one could also say that if they do release Alan Wake 1 for the PC, it might be testing the waters for future Alan Wake installments to come out as well, in which case I hope gamers are prepared to support and experience Alan Wake on their Desktops. We’ll bring you more news on this and the series as it develops.
