Alan Wake 2 Sales Surpass 2 Million Copies, Finally Becoming Profitable for Remedy

The sales of Alan Wake 2 have now passed 2 million copies, a big milestone for Remedy Entertainment’s survival horror game. This milestone means the game has started earning royalties.

According to the financial report, October 2024 was a particularly busy month for Alan Wake 2. Remedy and Epic Games The Lake House expansion on October 22nd, which was well-received by players. The expansion launch coincided with the release of the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition physical version.

In November 2024, with the debut of Alan Wake 2 on PlayStation 5 Pro, Remedy released a specific update for the new Sony console, along with various updates to improve the game’s experience across all platforms.

By the end of the fourth quarter, Alan Wake 2 had covered its development and marketing costs, reaching the 2 million sales milestone.

Despite initial strong sales, with 1.3 million copies sold at launch, making it Remedy’s fastest-selling game ever, it took a long time for the game to cover its production costs and become profitable.

When compared to similar games by Capcom, the sales gap is surprising, especially since the game got great reviews from critics worldwide.

One common feeling is that the publishing agreement Remedy made with Epic Games, combined with the decision to release the game exclusively in digital format, may have had a significant impact on its initial sales.
