Alan Wake 2 is marking its anniversary with a big update. Developer Remedy Entertainment will release a major update tomorrow, October 22nd. Called the Anniversary Update, this update brings several significant changes aimed at improving gameplay accessibility for all players.
The free update includes new accessibility settings like infinite ammo, one-shot kills, and a Gameplay Assist menu with toggles for features like quick turn and player invulnerability. Remedy has also added the ability to invert the horizontal axis on both mouse and controller—something players have been asking for since the game’s launch. These additions are a response to community requests for more customizable options.
PlayStation 5 players will experience even more improvements. The update enhances the DualSense controller’s haptics, now extending beyond just weapon use. Haptic feedback will also work with healing items and throwable objects. The controller will also support gyro aiming (motion controls), giving players a more immersive experience.
“We can’t believe it’s been almost a year since Alan Wake 2 was released,” Remedy said in an official statement. “Thank you to everyone who has played the game and become a member of our fanbase and the Remedy community, no matter when you joined us or how long you’ve been a fan.”
Alongside this major update, Remedy is releasing The Lake House expansion, though the Anniversary Update itself is not bundled with the expansion. The Lake House introduces new story elements, while the Anniversary Update focuses on improving the player experience with quality-of-life updates.
Alan Wake 2 launched in 2023 and is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
