Akaneiro: Demon Hunters and Asylum make it onto Steam

Today Valve announced the 4th set of titles to make it through the Greenlight process, and it looks like the horror genre is getting some much desired love this time around. As both Spicy Horse’s Akaneiro: Demon Hunters and Sanscape’s Asylum have both been approved and are advancing to worldwide distribution on Steam!

You have probably already seen our coverage of Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, and are probably aware that one of the minds behind it is famed game developer American McGee. If not though, allow me to fill you in on what it is. Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is a free to play action RPG in the same vain of Diablo, but with a visual style very reminiscent of Okami. The game draws heavy inspiration from the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale, but throws the story into a feudal Japan setting.

Additionally, Spicy Horse is celebrating their game making it through the Greenlight process by offering gamers playing on Steam a exclusive spirit pet helper, the Karakuri Gaben. Which is an obvious nod to Valve president Gabe Newell.

Asylum on the other hand is a psychological horror game where you explore a massive insane asylum. Featuring over 100 explorable rooms and environments for players to traverse. The game has also apparently been in development for over 4 years and is heavily inspired by the works of  H.P. Lovecraft.

So congratulations to Spicy Horse, Sanscape, and all of the development studios that got their games onto Steam today. We look forward to the progress of these indie titles going into 2013.
