Asobo Studio and Focus Home Interactive have just announced that the award-winning action-adventure survival horror stealth game A Plague Tale: Innocence is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This improved version features enhanced graphics up to 4K UHD and 60 FPS, audio optimizations, faster loading times, and includes a free upgrade for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners. Physical editions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will be available in retail stores on Oct. 19, 2021.
As an added bonus, Switch players can now play the game for the first time. The title is available today on Switch as a cloud-streaming title and allows you to pick it up digitally and play using the system’s cloud-streaming technology.
I was very impressed with the game when I originally played it back in May of 2019. The story was engaging and the stealth gameplay and how the swarms of rats were dynamically exploited really helped to elevate the game above its genre contemporaries. I made sure to get a physical copy at the time since I didn’t know how popular it would be. Fast-forward to two years later, and Plague Tale looks to be setting itself up as a potential mini-franchise.
A sequel to the game entitled A Plague Tale: Requiem was recently announced during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase at E3 2021. It will release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2022.
