Capcom announced this title around the same time Nemesis was announced for PlayStation. They surprised the fan base by indicating this was the first spin off Resident Evil title, and would infact be a light gun shooting game (no doubt cashing in on the success of Sega’s HOUSE OF THE DEAD).
The game was release just before Christmas 1999 to much resistance. Reviews ripped it apart and the game didn’t sell not nearly enough. Many blame the awful graphics – others the dire control system. Either way – this game was not a success, and it took Capcom nearly 4 years to get even close to perfecting the formula, which is evident in RESIDENT EVIL DEAD AIM.
