Gabriel Belmont’s story in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has already officially come to an end with the release of the “Resurrection” DLC. After unfortunate delays, everyone is now able to experience the final chapter of Lords of Shadow, for the time being at least, because I’m pretty sure a sequel will be announced eventually.
I reviewed the final add-on, giving it a solid 9 out of 10 (you can read said review by clicking here). My score was met with mixed reactions, as was the DLC itself. Now that you know my overall thoughts on “Resurrection,” I’m interested in knowing yours. So, feel free to post your own mini-review for the DLC in the comments section below. In the meantime, I’ll like to briefly address some of the issues that have been the most striking with “Resurrection.”
The main complaint with “Resurrection” seems to be the relation of the price tag to the actual length of the DLC. Its brevity could be its biggest set-back for those looking to put $10 towards a DLC. Granted, if you’ve been engrossed by the story in Lords of Shadow’s main campaign then you’ll most likely want to pick up this DLC (as well as “Reverie”). So, why miss out on the actual conclusion to the game?
I can go on and on defending the price of this DLC but that’s just my own personal stance and you should formulate your own before thinking about buying “Resurrection” or not. Yeah the contents of the add-on are superb and shouldn’t be missed by any ‘vania fan who enjoyed Lords of Shadow, but I’m not oblivious to the main complaints circulating in regards to the DLC. I’m not here to try and change anyone’s minds, I’m just trying to address some of the biggest concerns.
It’s short, but it’s one hell of an experience and a very satisfying finale to Gabriel’s tale in Lords of Shadow. It also perfectly sets up a sequel with many possibilities. But I won’t be spoiling its ending here for the sake of all of you have may have just recently downloading the add-on.
So, after playing through the DLC (if you did, in fact, download it) what are your thoughts? Was it worth it? Did you enjoy the build-up (consisting of stealth segments) and the overall fight with the Forgotten One? What did you feel was missing from “Resurrection”? Make sure to sound off in the comments below! See you all tomorrow and have a good and safe 4th of July if you’re in the States!
