Shinji Mikami’s return to survival horror was announced back in April of this year. Shortly after, as screenshots released to the public, several people brought to my attention that one of the game’s characters bore a resemblance to myself. Now, what were the odds that a horror game, the biggest in years due to the father of Resident Evil being at the helm, would have a character that looked like me, a horror game blogger?
Does this smell like a conspiracy to you? It does to me. Clearly, Mikami loved what he saw and just had to put me in his game, adding an extra dash of terror. He needed me to save survival horror with him, with my consent or not. The Evil Within Twitter page is well aware of this mystery and has acknowledged (retweeted) it.
Now, I do not plan to cause a stink or call my lawyers. It’s cool, Mikami. Just give me a heads up next time. I do not appreciate this kind of surprise, no matter how necessary it may be to the success of a game.
