Earlier this month, we reported that EA and Motive were rumored to be working on a reimagining of the Dead Space franchise. Now, word comes that the new title may in fact be a remake.
In an article published on VentureBeat by Staff Writer Jeffrey Grubb, it’s speculated that the new game will be, “a full-fledged remake,” and will likely use the formula made popular by Capcom’s latest Resident Evil remakes:
For its Dead Space game, Motive is taking notes from Capcom’s recent Resident Evil remakes. Like Resident Evil 2 Remake, expect the next Dead Space to use the original game as a strong foundation. But it should also have modern visuals. And it will likely bring in new gameplay mechanics inspired by other entries in the franchise.
On top of that news, today eagle-eyed Twitter user @SierraI07 noticed that the profile pictures for Dead Space’s Youtube and Twitter profiles were recently updated. This would be the first time they’ve been changed since 2013, the year Dead Space 3 was released. You can view the original tweet comparing the before and after profile pics below.

Personally, I’d rather EA and Motive focus development on a reimagining or offshoot of the franchise, as opposed to a remake, but nevertheless, the prospect of a new Dead Space title is still exciting.
Either way, as soon as something is officially announced, we’ll let you know.
