UPDATE: E3 2021: Succubus Official Gameplay Trailer

UPDATE: As of, July 1st, Madmind Studio has announced that Succubus will now be released on PC on September 8, 2021.

In a press release, the developer said:

Madmind Studio would like to inform about the change of the release date of Succubus. Initially, the title was supposed to be released in July. However, we have decided to spend more time optimizing and refining the production.

A recent gameplay trailer for Succubus was released at this year’s E3. Developed by Madmind Studio, the same developer responsible for the erotic and much-derided Agony, this new title focuses on the demonic Vydija, a wild and lustful Succubus demon.

The new gameplay trailer shows off one of the later stages of the game called the Vortex Temple. In the game, you take on the role of demonic protagonist Vydija, who is shown hacking away at enemies with a variety of savage melee weapons. Throughout the video, she is also shown viciously dispatching enemies with a number of slashes, kicks, spells, and gory finishers.

In a recent press release, the developers provided a summary of the game:

Become a demonic priestess of lust and use her unique skills to take revenge on your enemies. Regain your kingdom making hell tremble under your hooves! Left no one alive if they won’t bend the knee.

Players will have to be creative during the deadly encounters, using various weapons, environmental traps, and special powers of the protagonist Vydija. The presented weapons and powers are only a part of the full equipment and skills of the main heroine. The full version of the game will offer 40 weapons and 20 special powers.

Some of the main features in the game include:

  • A multi-story plot combining horror with action and survival
  • 40 different weapons
  • 20 special powers
  • A system of weapons and armors that affect the player’s statistics
  • A rich and diverse world of Hell
  • Surreal visual setting and gore
  • Character Customization
  • Main Hub with customization option
  • Ranked Arenas with Online Leaderboards

Say what you will about its content (or depiction thereof) these games have a flair and sense of style about them that’s hard to deny. Obviously, that has to be backed up by substantive gameplay for any of that style to mean anything. Nudity and blasphemy alone will only get you so far. While the game’s settings and characters are very imaginative, so far, the gameplay’s a bit crude and repetitive. We’ll just have to wait and see if things feel better in the release version.

A free demo will be available during the Steam Festival, starting June 16th. To get ready, you can also play the game’s prologue on Steam and view the uncensored gameplay trailer here.
