Dead Space Remake Gets Release Date & Shows Off New Concept Art

Dead Space Remake

EA recently announced during a livestream that the hotly anticipated Dead Space Remake will officially launch on January 27, 2023, for PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Along with the release date, the publisher also shared new concept art for the title showing off a variety of revamped environment and weapon designs.

EA Motive is overseeing the development of the remake of the classic sci-fi survival horror game, which is being rebuilt from the ground up using the Frostbite game engine for a deeper and more immersive gameplay experience.

In a recent press release, Philippe Ducharme, Senior Producer on the game, said:

Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players’ reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us.

We’re making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year. We can’t wait for players, both old and new, to see how we’ve elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation.

The development team highlighted some of the remake’s key features during the livestream, including:

  • An early look at how the remake visually evolves and updates the original with in-game props, tools, environments, and more being reconstructed to a level of polish and details fit for the next generation of hardware and PCs. Everything will be rebuilt from scratch, but the developers are keeping the same story and structure.
  • Allowing players to confront the frighteningly tight corridors and shadowed hallways of the USG Ishimura with unprecedented levels of immersion using a combination of enhancements like dynamic, volumetric lighting with atmospheric and environmental VFX rendered in full-HDR.
  • The developer’s intention is to offer a fully unbroken experience, it will be an uninterrupted sequence shot, from the start screen to the end credit, without interruption.

EA said that a full reveal of the game will drop close to Halloween, with the Motive unveiling the remake in greater detail.
