rain set to be beautiful and dark

Announced back at GamesCom, ‘rain‘ created a splash by introducing us to a world in which players must utilize precipitation to navigate environments. In what looks like a combination between Ico and LIMBO, rain puts players in the role of a young boy on the search for an invisible girl. In his pursuit of her, he also becomes invisible. Players must utilize the rain within the environments to make the little boy visible again, in order to solve puzzles and climb platforms. Avoiding the revealing silhouette of rain must be done to hide from invisible monsters.

rain looks beautiful. The game’s method of storytelling via on-screen text also intrigues me. PlayStation could have another Journey on its hands; I certainly hope so. It’s not very common that we get emotional games that leave their mark. PlayStation seems to have a knack for that sort of thing.

rain currently has no release date, but there’s a new gameplay trailer and a few screenshots to look at.
