A new update has been released for the cult-classic adventure game I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. Not only does it solve some of the bugs, but it also switches the game over to a whole new engine!
Previously the game relied on DOSBox to make sure this nineteen-year-old game could run on modern computers, but now it has moved over to ScummVM 1.6.0. This also gave the creators a chance to resolve some issues and bugs that were present in Gorrister and Benny’s campaigns, such as items behaving oddly and Benny moonwalking around after a conversation. While most users seem to have no problems, a few comments claim they have encounter game-breaking bugs and audio issues.
The update went live on the 19th of February, but didn’t appear in Steam’s list of recently-updated games until today. Still, it’s remarkable that a game can continue to receive support like this almost twenty years after its initial release.
